Mississippi Amateur Radio Needs You!

The MS Section Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is scheduled to take place
on Saturday 5 August 2017 from 9AM until 9PM. The main purpose of the
SET is to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in Amateur Radio emergency
preparedness as well as to demonstrate Amateur Radio to our served
agencies and the general public.

The actual scenario will be a close hold secret until 4 August at 5PM
Central Time. We plan to operate HF, VHF, and UHF from the field,
mobile, EOC’s, and at other served agency locations using analog voice,
SSB, digital voice and data, and packet and APRS for good measure.

The event will be a scripted scenario that revolves around the
disruption of power and to public safety/public service/general
communications (hardline, cellular, and data network disruptions). Not
only will we be looking to exceed our scores from last year’s SET, but
will be make ourselves very visible to our public in the best manner

There will be coordination meetings and phone calls going on all month.
The official how-to document will be out by 13 July for review and
