November 7th there will be a presentation of the Mississippi Edition Commemorative Book on the MSU campus (the Leo Seals Building) at 10 a.m. with a Vietnam POW as a speaker followed by the presentation of the books and then a reception for all of our Vietnam War heroes. The presentation is a Vietnam Veteran’s Welcome Home Ceremony intended to honor our Vietnam Veterans. Being present for this book presentation IS NOT REQUIRED.
Public is invited to help honor and thank the Vietnam Veterans.
ALL veterans requesting the book should contact Sharon Dollarhide (662-325-6867 or email@example.com) with an address, phone number and a copy of their DD214 verifying their military service in Vietnam.
Remember My Service – Vietnam 50th Anniversary Mississippi First Edition Commemorative Gift Project
We are now in the peak years of the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War and we have an obligation to do something meaningful and substantive to show honor and gratitude to each Vietnam-era veteran residing in Mississippi. With the help and generosity of Mississippi’s citizens, business and philanthropic leaders, Mississippi will present a special First Mississippi Edition Commemorative Gift of a hardbound book and eBook, A Time to Honor: Stories of Service, Duty and Sacrifice, with accompanying feature documentary The Journey Home to Mississippi Veterans who served in the Vietnam War. This non-profit and national initiative is designed to provide each state with an opportunity to have a special edition of the gift customized with messages of gratitude from the State and sponsors of the project.
· The first (Mississippi) edition is a printing of 20,000 copies that will be presented to Mississippi Veterans who served in the Vietnam Area of Operations.
· The Mississippi Legislature authorized $150,000.00 expenditure toward project costs.
· Private donors and businesses provided additional funding
