It was a good outing this morning at Waverly Landing. There was a little nip in the air, and I think most of us enjoyed that, along with the fellowship. It was certainly good to see everyone. I’m sure Caleb and others will have more photos and commentary.
This is a really good spot with plenty of trees, power, restrooms, grills, picnic tables and a nice pavilion too.
Attached is a flyer of an event for military Veterans and their families at the Sportsplex in Starkville next Tuesday, October 8th. There will be over 60 vendors there to provide resources to our local Veterans. There will be door prizes ranging from restaurant gift cards to big screen t.v.s. There will also be free flu shots, haircuts, manicures, pedicures and more. Let’s get our Veterans there!
This is a reminder that we’ll have our next regularly scheduled club meeting on Monday, September 30th at 4pm in the club room (433A Simrall). After welcoming and introducing new members, we’ll discuss the upcoming test session being offered by the club on Saturday, Oct 5th. Then we’ll listen to updates from each member – there have been some good things happening this month, so it will be good to hear from each of you.
There’s a special testing session going on at the LoCoARC Clubhouse on Lawrence drive this Thursday at 1830. You can bet it’s $FREE, so come out and get your Tech license, or upgrade your current FCC Amateur Radio License.
Good luck to all, and big thanks to the GTR VE Testing Team.
In forwarding the original notice for this project a glaring oversight occurred. Our great friends and supporters at MFJ were inadvertently overlooked in the list of providers of kits. They offer a broad range of kits for different skill levels. These range from the simple and low cost to more advanced including transmitter and receiver kits. These can be found on the MFJ website or in the current catalog.
Speaking of friends and supporters, MFJ has very generously provided a solder kit as a door prize to some lucky participant of this project. If you have the opportunity to run into someone from MFJ be sure and let them know how much we appreciate their support and generosity to our clubs.
past Saturday we had a training session at the clubhouse for the
correct way to put connectors on coax. I could go on a long time about
the quality of the information shared with those attending by Mark Lacy
Mark was asked about giving a class on soldering. It was first suggested that this happen this Saturday on Sept 14th. In talking to Mark we agreed that the prep time was too short. I asked him to send me a list of what we need to participate. He sent me a list of resources to purchase kits and recommended solder equipment if you should need to purchase any. May I suggest that if you have concerns or questions that you contact Mark by email at “email@example.com“. If you don’t have the solder equipment or can’t get the recommended equipment or a kit, contact Mark and talk to him about it.
I’ve continued in the comments; All of the links Mark had in his email for reputable kits. Make sure to check it out.
